Who We Are
  • Aging in Puyallup - also known as the Puyallup Area Aging in Community Committee (PAAICC) is a broad-based non-profit educational and advocacy organization championed by members whose goal is to address aging issues including quality-of-life, independent housing and transportation concerns that will help to make the area livable for all ages.  The PAAICC was instrumental in helping Puyallup to become the first age-friendly city in Washington State.

Age-Friendly City Puyallup
  • In 2016, Puyallup became the first age-friendly city in the state of Washington as designated by the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities, an institutional affiliate of the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.
  • In receiving this distinction, Puyallup committed to optimizing opportunities for people of all ages.  In March 2020, the city adopted a 5-year action plan developed by community stakeholders.  Subsequently, with the support of the city and the PAICC,  a five-year action plan was developed to focus on housing, transportation, communication and respect and social inclusion. Adopted in early 2020, it was approved by the AARP in March 2020.
  • In May 2023, the AARP awarded the city a plaque in recognition of its completion of its 5-year plan.
  • Community volunteers are integral to meeting the vision of being an age-friendly city for all ages.  The action plan and the 5-year report may be found at http://cityofpuyallup.org/DocumentCenter/View/12552/Aging-Puyallup-Action-Plan-2-2120AARP
